Well, it has been a month back in school now and I will be damn, I am starting to remember what I forgot. You know, it has been a long time since I last took a college composition course. I can still remember the first essay I had to write for that course. It was a critique on the new musical that was all the rage, Jesus Christ Superstar. Carbon dating put it around 1970-71. Unfortunately, the professor in that course chose the topic and title and gave no instruction on how it was to be written. My title was “Was Jesus Christ vain?” an almost blasphemous idea. I can still remember laboring on that assignment. Clinched teeth, sweating bullets the size of silver dollars and furrowed brow, very painful indeed. Today, I am a little more fortunate. My writing instructor is clear on our assignments and how to write them, and get this, he actually cares. Things are look-in up. The more I remember, the easier it gets. All I have to do is work at it.
