I-Search...so far.

Writing the I-search so far has proved quite interesting, informative and helpful. Though, I have yet to do any real focused research. I am astonished by the amount of information available on the World Wide Web on my particular subject “spirituality”.
It has proved interesting and informative in discovering, what it is that, some people use as a basis of belief and faith. Here are some examples of what I have found so far.
New age spirituality is definitely a heterogeneous movement of individuals; most graft some new age beliefs onto their regular religious ties. Recent surveys of US adults indicate that many Americans hold at least some new age beliefs.
· 8% believe in Astrology as a method of foretelling the future
· 7% believe that Crystals are a source of healing or energizing power.
· 9% believe that Tarot Cards are a reliable base for life decisions.
· About 1 in 4 believes in a non-traditional concept of the nature of god, which are often associated with New Age thinking.
¨ 11% believe that God is “a higher state of consciousness that a person may reach”
¨ 8% define God as “the total realization of personal, human potential”
¨ 3% believe that each person is God.
This information, to me, is very interesting as well as informative. Interesting in the fact I had never really known what the percentages were or how they were defined and categorized. More importantly, informative in respect that I have similar beliefs. I believe, since God created man in his own likeness there is a little God in all of us. It would also be his will for us to strive toward the best personal and human potential we could attain. No wonder I like New Age music.
Helpful, because in the whole process of writing and researching the topic of spirituality, I have had to define my own spiritual beliefs a little more clearly to myself. Since spirituality is very important to me. The new information has fortified some areas of my belief system. Helping me, better understand who I am, and what I believe. It is why I chose this topic in the first place!
