The western sky suddenly exploded with a spectrum of crimson, blue and yellow as the Sun touched the horizon. Hawaiian sunsets truly have a spirit of their own.
As I approached the Queens beach seawall in Waikiki two sailboats entered the picture that had already been beautifully framed with two mature palm trees. The image seemed as though it were from a mystical land were magical things abound, It’s beauty was breathtaking.
Hawaii, otherwise known as paradise, is legendary for it’s many wonderful treasures. It instantly became obvious that the sunsets there must be near or at the top of the list.
My appreciation of the sunsets increased as my time there grew longer. I realized that I could go see the many wonders of the island paradise: The valley of the temples, the banzai pipeline and other beaches, the volcanic craters, dive the beautiful reefs to see the dolphins, tropical fish and chase the giant sea turtles. They all were stunning and exciting, but themerol. Once departed, only the photos and memories would remain, visited only in the minds eye.
The Hawaiian sunsets, for that matter, sunsets anywhere in the world, would keep re-visiting us everyday. One need only to look to the west in the evening to behold the beauty, making true the statement; Where ever your treasure is, there goes your heart !
